Faces of Hope: Sharing Courage During Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

September is nationally recognized as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to bring the national spotlight to prostate cancer and to come together to spread vital awareness.

We’re empowering thousands to raise awareness next month through all of our efforts, including:

  • Events: 16 Run/Walk events across the country and the Second Annual BBQ Fundraiser with members of Congress
  • Education: “Current Treatments in Advanced Prostate Cancer” webinar and community awareness tables at health fairs nationwide
  • Faces of Hope: Uniting the prostate cancer community with real images and expressions of hope from men affected by prostate cancer

During our Faces of Hope campaign, we’re celebrating the nearly three million prostate cancer patients and survivors in the U.S. Whether it’s Nick Cascio, a Run/Walk fundraiser from Lehigh Valley who shares hope and fundraises in his 55-plus community, or Denny Moore, who is fighting his fifth recurrence of the disease.

Join us by sharing photos and videos of your prostate cancer journey to inspire others with your hope, passion, and courage using the hashtag #FacesofHope this September.

Launching Soon: A Brand New ZEROCancer.org

Just in time for September, ZERO is launching a brand new website with updated education and support sections including information and tools for patients and caregivers at all stages of the prostate cancer journey. We’ve also expanded ZERO’s Heroes to profile the men and their loved ones that we fight for every day, sharing stories of hope and inspiration during the toughest times of a diagnosis. In addition, the new website is fully accessible on mobile for information on the go and has enhanced ways to get involved, including new advocacy, Endurance 2017 events, and Do It Yourself fundraising minisites.

It will be easier than ever to join the fight to end prostate cancer – stay tuned for updates on the launch!

Preview: Fall Run/Walk Season is Almost Here!

Starting in just a few weeks, ZERO will kick off our fall Run/Walk season with events in Lehigh Valley and Cleveland, the first two of more than 20 events this fall!

We will visit cities nationwide to engage local communities in the fight to end prostate cancer. At several events this season, we will also be joined by a special guest! In San Antonio, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and San Francisco, baseball great and three-time All-Star Ken Griffey Sr., a prostate cancer survivor and spokesman for Bayer’s Men Who Speak Up campaign, will speak and spend time with participants, survivors, and fundraisers on race day. In Baltimore, Harrisburg, Lehigh Valley, and St. Louis, ZERO Spokesman Jimmy Charles will perform his song “Superman,” his anthem dedicated to prostate cancer patients and survivors.

Each event will spread the message of hope and awareness in local communities, and we hope to see you there! Find out where we’ll be and register today.

A Warm Welcome to Drew and Kirsten!

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to Drew and Kirsten, the newest members of the ZERO team at our headquarters in Washington, DC!

Drew joins us from the Patient Access Network Foundation, and will head up our Government Relations & Advocacy efforts. He’ll be spearheading ZERO’s work on the Hill, and will be responsible for patient advocacy and the ZERO Advocacy Summit held each year in DC.

Joining us from USRowing, Kirsten has come on as our Director of Marketing and Communications and will be creating and overseeing ZERO’s many awareness and outreach programs year-round.

All Men Deserve Access to Life Extending Prostate Cancer Treatment

On August 2, 2016, CVS Health announced its 2017 formulary changes, which include the removal of XTANDI® (enzalutamide), a treatment for advanced prostate cancer. The denial of access will have a significant impact on the prostate cancer community, as CVS Health is a pharmacy benefit manager for more than 80 million Americans. ZERO is alarmed for men and their families that CVS Health will begin denying access to a life extending and saving prostate cancer drug. Read more here.
