Bognanno to assume the role following the departure of Robert Ginyard
Washington, DC, May 6, 2022 – ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer is proud to announce the appointment of Thomas G. Bognanno as the Chairman of ZERO’s Board of Directors. Bognanno, a prostate cancer survivor, has been a Board Member since 2018 and takes on the role previously held by Robert Ginyard, who served as Chairman from 2018 to 2022. Bognanno assumed the role effective April 1, 2022.

Thomas G. Bognanno is a prostate cancer survivor with advanced disease. He has been the President and CEO of CHC: Creating Healthier Communities since January 2006. He is a career nonprofit executive and the catalyst for bringing CHC: Creating Healthier Communities to the next level with innovative programs that focus on health equity, community health development, employee engagement, workplace giving campaigns, and health resources. In partnership with CHC: Creating Healthier Communities’s national board of directors, Thomas has significantly increased the organization’s focus on health equity and the social determinants of health. In his role, he utilizes his decades of experience and expertise to define strategic direction and increase income for CHC: Creating Healthier Communities member organizations. Prior to his current position, Bognanno spent two decades with the American Diabetes Association, and before that with the American Cancer Society.

With its recent merger with Us TOO International, ZERO continues to grow and expand critical support to the prostate cancer community including a focus on advancing health equity,” said Bognanno. “Our community needs us more than ever to work together to zero-out prostate cancer for everyone who is impacted by the disease.”
During his time as Chairman, Robert Ginyard led the ZERO community through the COVID-19 pandemic and championed the growth of regional chapters, and the launch of several new programs including ZERO’s Health Equity efforts, where Robert serves on the Health Equity Task Force. Ginyard has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2012.
“Throughout my tenure as ZERO’s Board Chairman, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing first-hand the significant impact ZERO makes in the lives of prostate cancer patients and families,” said Ginyard. “I’m grateful for the meaningful relationships I’ve made while on the Board and I’m inspired by the strides we’ve made together. As a prostate cancer survivor, I will continue to be an active member of the ZERO community.”
ZERO’s Board of Directors also includes Dr. Alicia Morgans as Vice Chair and Ed Lomasney as Treasurer. Other members of the Board are former Chair Jonathan D.
