Dear Dedicated Members of our ZERO Family,

As this year draws to a close, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for your unwavering support and dedicated participation in our Eastern Regional efforts for ZERO Prostate Cancer. Your exceptional commitment, whether through generous contributions, active participation, or spreading awareness, has been instrumental in making this year's campaign a resounding success. Your continued support is a testament to our community's strength and compassion, and it inspires us to redouble our efforts in the ongoing fight against this critical health issue. East Coast Metro

Mickey Moran, the newest Champion for the East Coast Metro, was honored as the mission speaker for the South Jersey Run/Walk. Mickey has jumped into his role as a ZERO Champion and we are glad he is now a part of the ZERO family

Maryland-based Champion Bob Jacobs is using his time and voice to educate others about prostate cancer. We’re seeing Bob at Farmers Markets in DC conversing with people about their PSA numbers, prostate cancer risks, and advocating for their health. You can read Bob’s story here.

South Atlantic

Charlotte Run/Walk Race Committee Member Bob Lane wanted to engage more patients and invite them to join the Run/Walk. So he came up with a plan. With the support of the Urology Specialists of the Carolinas, Bob stationed himself at the office outside of the elevators on days when the Prostate Cancer Clinic was held. He was able to talk to patients as they came from their appointments about ZERO’s support programs and invite them to join others at the Charlotte Run/Walk. Learn more about Bob’s campaign to bring prostate cancer patients together here.

Champion Spotlight

PSA testing was made available at the North Jersey, Rockland County, and NYC Run/Walks this year by Mount Sinai. The Philadelphia Run/Walk also had PSA testing on-site hosted by Penn Medicine

Thank you to the chapters of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. that supported ZERO Prostate Cancer in 2023. The Zeta Sigma Chapter in Baltimore donated $5,000 to ZERO Prostate Cancer through the CIAA donation drive competition with the National Panhellenic Council of Metropolitan Baltimore. Organizations that won the contest received funds to donate where they felt compelled, and the Zeta Sigma chapter chose ZERO, driven by the prostate cancer rates in Black men and the health equity work ZERO is doing. The Zeta Sigma Chapter also attended the first Prostate Cancer in the Black Community Film Screening event in Baltimore as well as ran and walked in the Dr. Sanford J. Siegel Prostate Cancer Run/Walk. The Zeta Chi Sigma Chapter (Prince George’s County and Metropolitan DC) hosted its inaugural Stronger Together 5K Run/Walk for Men’s Health Awareness with $1,000 of the event proceeds donated to ZERO.
