Job Summary 


As a member of the Marketing Communications team, ZERO’s Senior Web Administrator will play a pivotal role in consolidating, managing, and optimizing the organization's web presence. This position will oversee the design, deployment, development, and maintenance of ZERO’s website to ensure optimal performance, security, and user experience. This position will also be responsible for project managing all web updates led by Marcom and submitted by the organization’s Mission, Development, and Operations departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Website Management: Oversee the daily operations of ZERO’s website, ensuring functionality, accessibility, and optimal performance. Enhance user experience to significantly increase engagement and acquisition by providing timely content updates and implementing strategic improvements.
     
  • Web Server and Database Administration: with support from ZERO’s external web agency, manage and configure web servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx) to ensure optimal performance and security for the organization's website. Monitor server logs and performance metrics, and implement optimizations as needed. Manage SSL/TLS certificates and ensure secure communication between servers and clients. Implement server-side caching and load-balancing strategies to improve website performance. Manage and maintain the databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) that power the organization's website and integrated systems.
     
  • Project Coordination: Manage and coordinate website implementation projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within scope and quality standards with a keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy across all web updates. Draft and provide web update templates, technical support, and guidance to internal teams, volunteers, and external stakeholders as needed.
     
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor website performance, conduct audits, and implement necessary improvements to ensure optimal speed, responsiveness, and overall user experience. 
     
  • Security Management: Implement and maintain security protocols to protect websites from threats, including regular updates, patches, and monitoring for vulnerabilities. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, HIPAA) for handling sensitive data, such as donor information and financial transactions.
     
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as development, marketing communications, mission, and IT, to ensure website and application requirements are met. 
     
  • Nonprofit Systems Integration: Integrate the organization's website with nonprofit software systems, such as donor management systems, event registration platforms, and online donation and volunteer portals. Ensure seamless data exchange and synchronization between the website and these systems.

Collaborate with software vendors and developers to implement and maintain integrations. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to software systems integration with the website.

  • Backup and Recovery: Perform regular backups of the website and maintain a disaster recovery plan to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime. 
     
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimize website content, metadata, and URLs for search engines to improve organic search rankings and drive more traffic to the website. 
     
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor website analytics and generate reports to track key performance indicators, such as traffic, conversion rates, and user engagement. Stay up-to-date with the latest web technologies, trends, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development, with a focus on nonprofit-specific solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 6-10 years in website management and analytics, including 5-7 years managing web development efforts.
  • Experience with digital marketing tools, content management systems (CMS), and analytics platforms.
  • Strong analytical abilities, excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative proactive spirit and enthusiasm for serving as the primary point of contact for executing all website updates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, Drupal, and Blackbaud products (e.g., TeamRaiser, Luminate Online, Raiser’s Edge).
  • Proven ability to lead and implement web/digital development projects within budget and deadlines.
  • Strong strategic and business skills complementing technical expertise.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO/SEM strategies and best practices.
  • Creative mindset with attention to detail and design aesthetics.
  • Certifications in digital marketing or related areas are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods at a computer in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
