Serving as a ZERO Champion has been the most rewarding experience since my diagnosis in 2018. Through my partnership with ZERO, I have the opportunity to raise awareness in my local community and advocate for men, patients, and survivors at all levels of the government.

I hate this damn disease, but I love the people I've met because of it.

Meet Vivian and John Avery, dedicated ZERO Champions and prominent volunteer leaders within the Kansas City community. Vivian and her husband, John, both lost their fathers to prostate cancer. To ensure others don't suffer from these devastating losses, they both passionately raise awareness about the critical significance of early detection and screening.

Vivian and John serve as invaluable representatives of ZERO, lending their time and expertise to engage with community members at various events. While ZERO provides the educational materials, it’s their volunteer leadership and diligence to share their family's experience that saves lives.

“I want to be able to help not only my family, but other families get through this. They shouldn’t have to go through it. They shouldn't have to suffer...Education is the key.” - Vivian Avery

Prostate cancer took my dad's life 30 years ago, and he didn’t have ZERO then. ZERO is so very important for men affected by prostate cancer. That’s why I'm here raising awareness and funds trying to keep the men in your life safe.
