With friends, family, and supporters, he and his wife, Katy, celebrated the final leg of their ride at Itasca State Park, MN, where they presented more than $225,000 to ZERO. Scott and Katy set out one year ago to bike around the perimeter of the United States to raise awareness and funds to fight prostate cancer and schizophrenia. With Scott on his bike and Katy tailing in a trailer, they traveled across 33 state lines. During the trip, Scott heroically juggled radiation and hormone therapy. Scott and Katy also made several stops along their route to meet with other prostate cancer patients and caregivers. The Freitags' epic adventure caught ESPN's eye last spring, and their inspirational story was featured on Sports Center on June 22. Congratulations to the Fretiags for making an incredible impact on our prostate cancer community. Watch Now Alonzo Mourning Shares His Prostate Cancer Diagnosis Last month, basketball legend Alonzo Mourning revealed that he'd been diagnosed with Stage 3 prostate cancer. Mourning, 54, said he had surgery to remove his prostate in March and is now cancer-free. He told ESPN that he's determined to raise awareness and advocate for early prostate cancer screenings. "ZERO Prostate Cancer commends NBA legend Alonzo Mourning for his courageous decision to share his prostate cancer journey publicly. His candid interview with ESPN serves as a rallying cry for men everywhere to take charge of their prostate health through early detection. Mourning's powerful message cuts through the noise - understanding risk factors, knowing your family history, and getting tested regularly are the keys to getting ahead of this disease.
