Take the BEACON Survey 30 Years of Prostate Cancer Progress Jump To Events Awareness Education Support Community Advocacy More As we mark our 30th anniversary at ZERO Prostate Cancer, we are proud to announce the launch of the Prostate Cancer BEACON Survey, an ambitious nationwide initiative designed to capture the lived experiences of 10,000 individuals directly affected by the disease. As one of the largest surveys of its kind ever conducted in the United States, our goal is to bridge the gap between the day-to-day realities of prostate cancer and the institutions that dictate cancer care, public policy, and clinical research. This comprehensive, 20-minute anonymous survey is open to a wide demographic across all 50 states and U.S. territories. Rather than limiting our scope to diagnosed patients and survivors, we are actively soliciting input from caregivers, individuals at elevated clinical risk, and healthcare professionals. We will deploy the resulting dataset across a four-pillar strategy to help overhaul the current landscape of prostate cancer care:Inform Research and Clinical Care: By aggregating thousands of patient narratives, our survey will provide researchers and physicians with a clearer understanding of the physical, emotional, and logistical barriers patients navigate during treatment and survivorship.Strengthen Legislative Policy: Our advocates will utilize these findings to present lawmakers with hard data regarding systemic obstacles in screening, diagnostic testing, insurance coverage, and overall access to care.Guide Community Support: The data will act as a geographical and demographic map, helping us identify gaps in current support networks so we can better route financial resources, peer programs, and localized partnerships to underserved areas.Accelerate Health Equity: Recognizing the disproportionate impact of prostate cancer on certain demographics, we are placing a heavy emphasis on ensuring Black, Veteran, rural, and LGBTQ+ voices are explicitly represented in future research and care standards. Our study is being spearheaded by Michael D. Hall, PhD, ZERO's Director of Measurement & Evaluation. To fund this massive data-gathering operation, we have secured backing from a coalition of major pharmaceutical and diagnostic partners, including Novartis as the lead founding partner, alongside AstraZeneca, BioNTech, Blue Earth Diagnostics, Curium Pharma, and Lantheus.Prostate cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among American men. By aggregating tens of thousands of data points on the real-world impact of the disease from every angle—from the oncology ward to the caregiver’s living room—our BEACON Survey intends to create a foundational tool that will dictate advocacy and healthcare responses for decades to come.If you are 21 or older, we need your voice. The survey is completely anonymous, does not collect identifying contact information, and is currently accepting responses online at zerocancer.org/survey.
