Podcast Series One – Sex After Prostate Cancer
The prostate gland is a key component in the male reproductive system. Thus, prostate cancer can have serious implications on a man’s sexual health. Long-term or lifelong side effects from the disease and/or its treatments include erectile dysfunction, loss of sex drive, infertility, or other hormone-related issues.
Prostate cancer patients and survivors often feel shame around side effects that result from prostate cancer and/or its treatments. When those side effects impact sexual health or virility, feelings of shame and embarrassment are amplified. This podcast series will shine a light on these topics, and help men understand that they’re not alone.
Is a gay man’s experience with prostate cancer different from a heterosexual man’s? In this episode of Prostate Cancer Uncensored, ZERO’s CEO and President Jamie Bearse speaks with Chris Hartley. Chris is a 45 year old gay man from Austin, Texas. He’s a husband, a father, a prostate cancer awareness advocate – and he’s a prostate cancer survivor. He’s open and honest about his diagnosis, what it took to get his sexual life back on track – and how his life as a gay man shaped his cancer journey. Click here for a PDF transcript of this podcast.
