ZERO Prostate Cancer Applauds Introduction of the State of Men's Health Act February 24, 2026 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEMedia Contact:Milayo Olufemi, Health Communications ManagerZERO Prostate Cancermilayo.olufemi@zerocancer.org | media@zerocancer.org ZERO Prostate Cancer today announced its strong support for the State of Men's Health Act, critical legislation that addresses a long-overdue gap in our nation's public health infrastructure by establishing an Office of Men's Health within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.Men in America face significant and often overlooked health disparities. Prostate cancer alone affects one in eight men during their lifetime, with even higher rates among African American men. Despite these alarming statistics, men remain underserved by coordinated federal health initiatives, public awareness campaigns, and preventive care programs. Healthy men are critical to the sustainment and growth of healthy families in the U.S."Men's health has been overlooked for far too long at the federal level," said Courtney Bugler, CEO of ZERO Prostate Cancer. "The State of Men's Health Act will provide the coordinated leadership necessary to address critical health disparities, improve early detection, and ultimately save lives. ZERO is proud to support this legislation and looks forward to working with Congress to ensure men receive the attention and resources they deserve."The State of Men's Health Act will take concrete action through two key mechanisms. First, a comprehensive Government Accountability Office study will identify health disparities affecting men and assess current federal programs. Second, the new Office of Men's Health will coordinate efforts across government agencies, with an emphasis on prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, and diabetes.Men engage with healthcare differently than women. Particularly with prostate cancer, fear, stigma, and lack of awareness often delay early detection and treatment, barriers that cost lives. As the nation's leading provider of prostate cancer resources, programs, and services, ZERO believes this legislation will provide the federal coordination necessary to break down these barriers and improve health outcomes for men across America. We commend Representatives Carter and Murphy for their leadership on this vital issue. ZERO urges all members of Congress to co-sponsor the State of Men's Health Act and advance it swiftly. Men's health cannot wait any longer for the attention and resources it deserves.
