Washington, D.C. — ZERO Prostate Cancer is pleased to announce that two established health care experts will begin new roles at ZERO starting in early September. Shelby Moneer joins as Vice President of Patient Education and Programs, and Alison Manson as Vice President of Government Relations and Advocacy.

Both Moneer and Manson have extensive and impressive careers working with and for health nonprofits. Most recently, Moneer was the Director of Education at the Melanoma Research Foundation, and Manson served as the Associate Director of Federal Government Relations with the American Optometric Association.

“Shelby and Alison will be instrumental in advancing ZERO’s advocacy efforts and patient programs for the good of the three million-plus American men living with prostate cancer. They are both proven leaders, and will elevate ZERO’s passion and dedication for its mission,” said Jamie Bearse, ZERO’s CEO.

Moneer — who has more than a decade of experience in the cancer space — will be responsible for leading ZERO’s comprehensive suite of patient support programs, resources, and educational offerings. Moneer will also play an important role building ZERO’s Research Fund and working collaboratively on the annual ZERO Prostate Cancer Summit.

Reflecting upon this new chapter of her career, Moneer stated that, “I’m thrilled to join the ZERO team and continue my passion to support and educate cancer patients.”

In her previous role, Manson oversaw the policy concerns of doctors of optometry and their patients. She was a driving force behind passing federal, state, and local-level legislation that aimed to improve vision health and reduce vision impairment. Manson has spent her entire career working in the health care space, and received a Master of Public Health degree from the George Washington University.

In advance of beginning her new role, Manson shared that, “I’m thrilled by the opportunity to forge a new chapter for ZERO’s storied advocacy success. ZERO has an exceptional reputation for effective advocacy around the country, and I can’t wait to increase the footprint of care and support for men nationwide.”

Moneer and Manson begin their tenure with ZERO during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
