Largest National Event Series for Men’s Health Has Raised More Than $32 Million for Patients in Need

Washington, D.C., May 9, 2023 ZERO Prostate Cancer is proud to announce the return of its annual celebration of prostate cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and families with its national ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk series, the largest national event series dedicated to men’s health. Prostate cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men (aside from skin cancers) and the second leading cause of cancer death in men. Black men are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with, and more than twice as likely to die from, prostate cancer than white men. This year, ZERO joins forces with 50 U.S. cities to raise critical awareness for early detection and direct support for prostate cancer patients and their families.

Since its conception in 2007, the ZERO Run/Walk series has raised more than $32 million toward prostate cancer testing, research, education, transportation, and support. These impactful community events bring together patients, survivors, family members, friends, medical professionals, and athletes to save lives and end prostate cancer. It is important for the more than three million men diagnosed with prostate cancer to know they are not alone.

“As the largest men’s health event series in the world, the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk series shares hope, inspires action, and builds community among patients and the people who love them,” said Jamie Bearse, ZERO Prostate Cancer’s CEO. “It’s incredibly empowering to see patients and caregivers build extended and cause-driven families through this event series every year. We’re thrilled to bring it to 50 cities for the first time ever.”

Through ZERO’s unique partnership model, premier urology practices in cities nationwide play a prominent role in these events raising significant funding and awareness, building local prostate cancer communities, and rallying support for the cause. Having physicians and their patients at these events side-by-side showcases the commitment of these partnering practices to join ZERO in the fight to ZERO out prostate cancer.

“I run in honor of men who have dealt with prostate cancer. Being around fellow survivors and their families who have traveled this prostate cancer journey renews my appreciation and recharges me to do more and more each year. I’m so happy to be a part of this community,” said Kevin Taylor, a prostate cancer survivor and Kansas City Run/Walk participant.

ZERO is grateful to longtime Premier Partner AbbVie, National Caregiver Sponsor Bayer, and National Sponsors, including Astellas, Myovant Sciences, Pfizer Oncology, Tolmar, AstraZeneca, Lilly, Lantheus, and Novartis.
