ZERO Prostate Cancer Statement on Passage of H.R. 1 July 8, 2025 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEMedia Contact:Stephanie S. JohnsonZERO Prostate Cancerstephjohnson@zerocancer.org | media@zerocancer.org(202) 998-2507 Alexandria, Virginia – July 8, 2025On behalf of the millions of Americans impacted by prostate cancer, we are deeply disappointed by the passage of H.R. 1. This legislation threatens to strip health coverage from more than 17 million people–jeopardizing their ability to detect, treat, and survive serious diseases like prostate cancer. Access to comprehensive health insurance isn’t a luxury–it’s a lifeline. While ZERO remains steadfast in helping individuals access free screenings and have the support they need to navigate their prostate cancer journey, our efforts alone cannot replace long-term, trusted relationships patients build with their health care providers–relationships made possible through reliable insurance coverage. The passage of H.R. 1 will significantly widen disparities in care. Fewer men will be screened. Fewer will catch their cancer early. More will face unnecessary barriers to treatment. And tragically, more lives will be lost. Nonetheless, we will continue to do everything within our power to meet patients where they are–to ensure no one faces this disease alone. We still envision a future where these stopgaps aren’t needed–where every American has access to the coverage and care they need to survive prostate cancer and live full, healthy lives. ZERO will continue to fight until that vision becomes a reality–for every man, every family, every community.
