Job Summary: 

ZERO's Coordinator, Run/Walk, is a vital member of the national Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Team. This role combines hands-on peer to peer fundraising, participant engagement and coaching, volunteer coordination, and event support. The ideal candidate excels at multitasking, adapts quickly to changing priorities, and thrives in fast paced environments. This position requires regular attendance at meetings and events to ensure seamless execution of Run/Walk programs nationwide including nights and weekends on occasion.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute grassroots outreach plans to attract participants, teams, and sponsors with vested interest in the cause
  • Provide excellent customer service through fundraising hotline and general email box to external constituents
  • Coordinate multi-channel participant outreach (ringless voicemail, texting platform, calls, cards, emails) to retain past participants, coach current participants, and increase registration and fundraising
  • Monitor fundraiser and team performance to ensure timely responsiveness, provide recognition, and steward captains and individuals to deepen fundraising results
  • Responsible for National Virtual Run/Walk event ($50k) and National Teams program ($20k+ national activation) fundraising coaching and recruitment
  • Build and lead executive volunteer committees for Run/Walk events; recruit, assign, manage, train, and communicate with volunteers including day-of event support
  • Conduct sponsorship prospecting and cold calling to secure new business for Run/Walk Series
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward prospective fundraising teams, sponsors, and donors; request, secure, and manage fundraising, sponsorship, and in-kind donations
  • Attend virtual and in-person meetings and events with sponsors, volunteers, committees, and community partners to advance fundraising goals
  • Coordinate event day logistics including setup, execution, and breakdown (8+ hours on-site)


 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Prior experience in fundraising development within a nonprofit organization 
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with participants, donors, volunteers, and staff members
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time 
  • Valid driver's license, access to reliable vehicle, good driving record, and proof of automobile insurance
  • Demonstrated ability to mobilize and motivate individuals to achieve fundraising goals
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Strong multi-tasking skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively communicate ZERO's mission while persuading others to support the cause
  • Proven ability to build and maintain portfolios of donors and sponsors
  • Ability to communicate effectively over the phone and comfortably cold call as needed
  • Excellent project management skills with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising software and event management
  • Exceptional ability to analyze, design, and implement efficient operational processes that maximize productivity
  • Ability to identify opportunities for streamlining workflows and creating sustainable systems
  • Experience managing volunteers and building executive committees
  • Comfortable requesting donations and sponsorships
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills across all stakeholder groups
  • Ability to identify opportunities for growth in relationships 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of demonstrated professional experience in peer-to-peer fundraising events within a nonprofit organization
  • Understanding of fundraising principles and donor stewardship
  • Familiarity with Asana, P2P Fundraising Platforms (ie. Luminate Online), CRM systems (ie. RE NXT), Google Suite, and Slack

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant use of computer and office productivity equipment (printer, calculator, copier)
  • Professional, quiet working environment for phone support to participants, donors, and stakeholders
  • Ability to alternate between prolonged stationary office work (50% of time) and extended standing/walking during events (8+ hours for setup, execution, breakdown)
  • Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds unassisted (event materials, supplies, equipment)
  • Manual Dexterity: Sufficient dexterity to handle event materials, operate equipment, and assist with setup/breakdown
  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Required to work weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays as dictated by event schedule
  • Driving & Travel: Must possess valid driver's license, ability to rent and operate a vehicle, drive to event locations, and transport materials between venues
  • Environmental Conditions: Comfortable working in various indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to different weather conditions, temperatures, and noise levels
  • Visual/Auditory Acuity: Ability to recognize details at close range during office work and monitor event activities, identify issues, and communicate effectively in noisy environments
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and exchange accurate information across all work settings

Salary Range: 

$45,000 - $55,000
