ZERO Earns Coveted Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator

Washington, D.C. – ZERO Prostate Cancer is proud to announce that we were recently recognized as a four-star charity by Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. This rating is a top-tier designation awarded to charities with strong financial health and a commitment to accountability and transparency. Out of the more than 18,000 disease-based organizations in the U.S., ZERO is one of 48 to receive four stars and have an annual budget of over $3.5M.

“ZERO’s exceptional four-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” according to Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only a quarter of charities rated by Charity Navigator receive the distinction of our four4-star rating. This adds ZERO to a preeminent group of charities working to overcome our world’s most pressing challenges. Based on its four-star rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity when they decide to support ZERO.”

Receiving a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator is a coveted honor that means ZERO has taken the steps necessary to show our donors and constituents that we are accountable, transparent, and financially healthy. Since 2002, using objective analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a four-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness, to its ratings methodology. These Accountability and Transparency metrics, which account for 50 percent of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities operate in accordance with industry best practices  and whether they are open with their donors and stakeholders.

“We’re thrilled to have earned Charity Navigator's highest rating and to be part of an elite group of charities who set the standards for others.” said ZERO President and CEO Jamie Bearse. “We are dedicated to ensuring financial accountability and transparency so that our donors and supporters know that every dollar advances the fight against prostate cancer.”

ZERO is a 501c3 charity, a Better Business Bureau member, and 84 cents of every dollar donated goes to research, education, and patient programs. To learn more about our work or make a life-saving donation, visit https://zerocancer.org. You can also learn more about our Charity Navigator rating.
