ZERO Medical Advisory Board Chair Dr. Alicia Morgans Also Named Vice Chair

Washington, D.C. – Robert Ginyard never anticipated that he would be battling prostate cancer. At the time of his diagnosis, his major battle had been raising capital and launching his own business. After being diagnosed at 48, he then decided to take on a new role in speaking out to promote prostate cancer awareness, particularly in the African-American community, where men are at higher risk.

A natural leader and inspirational speaker, Robert joined ZERO’s Board of Directors in 2012. He also became the emcee of ZERO’s Annual Advocacy Summit, where he shares his story and engages attendees to do the same. With his humor, honestly, and heart, Robert has become a cornerstone of the Summit. He serves as a touchpoint for ZERO’s advocates and fosters meaningful connections with men and their families..

“Robert Ginyard is a true prostate cancer champion and a beloved member of the ZERO community,” said Jamie Bearse, ZERO’s President and CEO. “As ZERO continues to grow and build local chapters across the country, we are so fortunate to have Robert’s leadership and his passion for connecting as anchors in our fight to end this disease.”

Robert is a former banker, Director of Marketing for a national trade association, and entrepreneur. He is a frequent guest on radio programs and community events sharing his prostate cancer journey. He lives in Baltimore with his wife and two daughters, and is also the creator of DiBi DiBi (Dream it. Believe it. Do it. Be it.), an awareness campaign that encourages people to live out their dreams.

In addition, Dr. Alicia Morgans, who serves as Chair of ZERO’s Medical Advisory Board, has been named Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. Dr. Morgans is an Associate Professor at The Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, specializing in the treatment of genitourinary malignancies, including cancers of the prostate, bladder, testis, and penis. Dr. Morgans’ research focuses on improving care and patient outcomes in advanced prostate cancer, including investigating the side effects of cancer treatment and treatment decision-making.

“Dr. Morgans has been a steadfast leader of our Medical Advisory Board for many years,” said Bearse. “Her dedication to advancing research and her commitment to improving the quality of life for patients is inspiring and there is no doubt her work will lead to better outcomes for men and their families.”

Dr. Morgans is a regular speaker at the ZERO Advocacy Summit and she has played a prominent role in creating many of ZERO’s educational resources including patient videos, webinars, and printed materials which have reached thousands of men and their families.

ZERO’s Board of Directors also includes Col. Paul Taylor, Sherry Galloway, R.N., Leo Giambarresi, Ph.D., Jim Grohman, Jonathan D. Schwartz, Cheryl Nikituk, Tom Hulsey, and Ed Lomasney.
