
In the largest study of its kind, scientists at Cedars-Sinai have developed a new classification system that could be used to predict whether prostate cancer in patients is likely to progress into a fatal form of the disease.
The research from the Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai analyzed more than 4,600 prostate cancer specimens. It is the first large-scale study to link clinical outcomes to subtypes based on the processes by which genes are turned on and off in the cancer cells.
