According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with this disease during their lifetime. About ZERO Prostate Cancer News ZERO Prostate Cancer RunWalk Contributor Kamy Smelser, Community Affairs Assistant Kamy Smelser is the community affairs assistant at Fox 2 and News 11. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma but grew up in St. Louis. From the time Kamy was in elementary school she remembers watching Fox 2 which inspired her to pursue journalism. She graduated in December 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Columbia College Chicago. While in school she worked as an investigative intern in the Consumer Responds unit at NBC 5 Chicago and interned at Modern Luxury Magazine as an editorial assistant. Kamy also worked at her school’s newspaper, The Columbia Chronicle as a news editor and produced award-winning work recognized by the Illinois College Press Association. When she is not working, Kamy enjoys writing poetry and going running. She loves playing sand volleyball with her friends and volunteers as a middle school and youth teacher at her church.
