My Thank You to the Sons and Daughters Who Donated This Holiday Season

My 2023 is off to an amazing start because of the incredible support you showed our prostate cancer community during the holiday season. We wrapped up the third #Harrity4Charity Match Day on December 21, which had a goal of $25,000. I called on all the sons and daughters out there to make a donation – and you came through in a remarkable way. Not only did we hit the $25,000 goal, but we surpassed that number by more than $13,000. I get a little teary-eyed just thinking about all of the kind people who saw my story (my father’s story, really) and gave generously so that no other family would have to endure the pain of prostate cancer. Words can not express my gratitude.

My law firm, Harrity & Harrity, is a longtime supporter of ZERO and the fight to end prostate cancer. They generously added another $100,000 to the $38,000 we raised on December 21. We know firsthand that this money goes straight to helping prostate cancer patients and families. As a matter of fact, when ZERO’s CEO and president Jamie Bearse and I chatted recently, he told me that more than 160 men and families will be impacted by the donations raised on #Harrity4Charity Match Day. Because of you, these prostate cancer patients will get much-needed emotional and financial support. It’s support that allows them to focus on healing and spending time with their families. This is how your donations are being spent – on real men, real patients, real families.

Prostate cancer took my father when I was just 25, robbing us of so many precious moments together. He didn’t get to walk me down the aisle. He never met his grandkids. And he was robbed of proms, graduations and family get-togethers. I put my time and resources behind this fight because I don’t want any other family to go through this.

On a brighter note, I see my dad’s energy in my beautiful daughter. I see him in my grandson’s face. And I definitely feel him with me each year as I fundraise for ZERO. This year, I got an L.L. Bean catalog in the mail. That may not sound like a big deal but when I was a kid, my father used to mark up that catalog with Christmas gift ideas for himself. When I got this year’s catalog, it made me smile because I knew he was watching over me and the important work we’re doing to help battle this disease.

Once again, thank you for your generosity. We’ll be back with another #Harrity4Charity Match Day in 2023, but until then – I’m off to the ZERO Summit in February where we’ll continue this fight. I hope to see some of you there!
