The Amazing Things Happening in Iowa July 31, 2023 When good people come together with a great purpose; amazing things happen and lives change for the better. That certainly is happening in ZERO’s Midwest Chapter and in the state of Iowa. The Midwest is lucky to call Urology Center of Iowa & Broadlawns Medical Center an official sponsor of our chapter. With this, they are committing to not only support patients in Iowa, but throughout the entire Midwest. In June, the Urology Center of Iowa, with support from Broadlawns and a local grant from ZERO, offered free Prostate Cancer screening events in their local area. On June eighth, 33 patients were able to be tested and another 36 patients were tested on June twenty-second. That is a total of 69 people that received free care because of these screening events. Many expressed gratitude to the staff that helped them at the event. The feeling of hope was evident on both days in June. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people were unable to leave their homes and couldn’t receive the medical care they needed. Cases of prostate cancer went undiagnosed and those with a diagnosis couldn’t receive necessary treatments. These free Prostate Cancer screening events are helping people get back in control of their health and are ending the days of uncertainty many experienced last year.In 2019, eight proud Iowan physicians came together to create the Urology Center of Iowa. Their vision? To provide advanced, patient centered Urologic care for the people of central Iowa. So the physicians of UCI merged their individual expertise and resources and took a chance to create something wonderful. They never could have foreseen the Global Pandemic that would change the world just one year later. However, they believed that if they continuously did right by their patients, their work would speak for itself and success would inevitably follow.Success did follow the Urology Center of Iowa. After just two years, the practice is much busier than they ever expected. Subsequently, three new advanced providers and two new physicians have happily joined their team. All of which strive to implement UCI’s core values in everything they do and every decision they make. These core values are based upon the mission and values set in place by the founding physicians.Mission: To provide compassionate, world-class urologic care and exceptional experiences for our patients, employees and partners.Values: respect, integrity, philanthropy, pride, learning, and empowerment.Throughout the year, you will be seeing these partners supporting ZERO’s educational webinars, ZERO’s patient programs, and events. One of which is coming up in a couple weeks; the ZERO Tee-Off event. We are grateful to call Urology Center of Iowa and Broadlawns Medical Center our presenting partner on the upcoming event. In addition, we will get to see what kind of golf skills these physicians have. Make sure to check back as we will update everyone how the event goes Monday, August 23. To date, the ZERO Tee-Off event has raised over $33,000.In a nutshell, by partnering with these two partners, the good that is happening is unmeasurable.
