Howard Wolinsky

Howard Wolinsky has been on active surveillance for low-risk prostate cancer for 13 years. He just observed his "pros mitzvah" in December. He is a co-founder of Active Surveillance Patients International and the AnCan Foundation's Virtual Support Group for AS and has hosted a virtual support group for the ZERO Summit for the past three years. 

He writes the Substack newsletter, TheActiveSurveillor.com. Prostate Cancer Research Institute just recognized Howard with its  Harry Pinchot Award for Advocacy He has been involved in PCa research and published several articles with leading urologists in major medical journals. This work led him to enter the Master of Public Health program at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  He was the medical editor for the Chicago Sun-Times for nearly 30 years and a two-time nominee for the Pulitzer Prize. He is the author of four books, including "The Serpent on the Staff: The Unhealthy Politics of the American Medical Association," and with his librarian wife, Judi, the best seller, "Healthcare Online for Dummies." He is a wildlife and landscape photographer.
