You Are Not Alone September 18, 2018 Hi all, it’s Jimmy Charles here! Most of you know me as ZERO’s National Spokesman; I’ve been traveling the country spreading awareness with ZERO for a few years now. My song, “Superman,” is ZERO’s anthem and it’s something I’m proud to sing to the patients and survivors who inspired me at every race I attend. When I first got started with ZERO, I had no idea how much impact we could have together. I wrote “Superman” alongside Phil Shulka, a prostate cancer patient that works closely with ZERO and the Baltimore Run/Walk. I’m a Maryland guy myself, so to begin this journey in my home state was a great honor. Since then, every community I visit is full of folks who inspire the work we do and who want to join us on our journey to Generation ZERO.Some of my most favorite moments are when I meet the patients, survivors, and their families at every Run/Walk and when they share their stories with me. Their vulnerability in sharing their hardship and passion is inspiring, and it gives me hope and push me to do more – I raise awareness for the men who might not be aware they are at risk for the disease. I raise awareness because early detection saves lives, and I’m passionate about letting as many folks as possible know that. Most of all, I want all of these men and families to know that they are not alone. There are 2.9 million men living with prostate cancer in the U.S. – that is 2.9 million others who have gone through a similar journey, who have battled or lost a loved one to this disease. It’s a journey that unites everyone who has been affected by prostate cancer, and alongside ZERO we want to reach every one of them. If we can educate just one man to get tested, just one man to be aware that he is at high risk, then we are making a difference. This Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, join me to raise awareness. Join me to stand by the men and families affected by prostate cancer. Visit ZERO’s website to learn more about how you can get involved and fill out a sign of your own! Don’t forget to share it with us on social media using #CountMeIn and tagging ZERO!Later today I am psyched that my new song, "I Am Not Alone," will release to country radio, iTunes, and more! I was inspired to write this song on my journey with ZERO and meeting the survivors connected to this great organization, and wanted to create an uplifting anthem to bring them hope, unity, love, and strength. If you want to connect with me on Facebook, I love getting messages from everyone. You can also find me over on ZERO’s Instagram tomorrow for Prostate Cancer Awareness Day, where I’ll be taking over to show you a day in my life!
