Nation’s top prostate cancer nonprofit recognized by volunteers and donors for impact
WASHINGTON, D.C. – ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer has been named a Top-Rated Nonprofit for 2019 by GreatNonprofits, the leading platform for community-sourced stories about nonprofit work and impact.
This is ZERO’s second time earning a prestigious spot on the coveted list. Volunteers, donors, prostate cancer patients, survivors, and their families all shared their own personal stories of ZERO’s impact on their lives. From around the country, stories of gratitude and appreciation for ZERO helped advance the organization as a top charity serving the prostate cancer community.
Lyle Leuck, a prostate cancer patient, and ZERO Champion – a volunteer leader and fundraiser for the organization – said the following about his ZERO experience: “I was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer in January 2010 … I tried some other support groups, and they certainly served a purpose, but they had a passive, not active approach to prostate cancer. ZERO presented the active, energetic, advocacy, patient support, and education that followed my own heart … ZERO is a family of survivors, caregivers, and others who believe in an active, rather than a passive, approach to cancer awareness.”
“On behalf of the ZERO team, it’s an honor to serve the prostate cancer community and be named a top organization by GreatNonProfits,” said ZERO CEO Jamie Bearse. “We get up each day with a singular focus on how we can collectively address the unmet patient needs and show the love to every family that has been affected by this hideous disease. I’m proud of the amazing commitment and passion of our staff, champions, and advocates who make ZERO a great nonprofit.”
About 2,000 nonprofits across the country made the 2019 list, based on high ratings from those who have experienced organizational impact firsthand. Clients, volunteers, and donors all rated and reviewed nonprofits whose work they were touched by. The GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Awards is the one and only people’s choice award where volunteers, donors, and people served by nonprofits are asked to share stories of inspiration and express their appreciation.
