How Your Spit May Help Doctors Diagnose Prostate Cancer

Researchers are organizing a clinical trial on a new saliva test that is expected to show, with even more clarity, which men are at high risk for prostate cancer. Scientists are now able to extract DNA from cells — mostly leukocytes, also known as white blood cells — that are floating in your saliva. This has already been demonstrated globally in popular genealogical tests from such companies as Ancestry.com and 23andMe, which can literally tell us where, and who, we came from, and can now be used to predict prostate cancer risk.
