ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk – Harrisburg Proceeds to Support Local Men and Families

Harrisburg, PA – ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer and Urology of Central Pennsylvania joined forces in September 2015 to save lives and keep families together with the Eighth Annual ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk – Harrisburg. The family-friendly event – part of ZERO’s annual Run/Walk series – raised nearly $80,000 to help end prostate cancer, the second leading cause of cancer death in men.

“Partnering with Urology of Central Pennsylvania to bring the ZERO Run/Walk series to Harrisburg allowed survivors, patients, caregivers, families, and businesses to come together as a community to take action against prostate cancer,” said ZERO CEO Jamie Bearse. “Urology of Central Pennsylvania has been a strong partner in Harrisburg for seven years, and the run/walk event is a great chance to help stop the pain and suffering from prostate cancer and to raise awareness in the local community.”

Funds from the Harrisburg Run/Walk will benefit both the local community as well as national efforts to provide research for new treatments, free prostate cancer testing, and to educate men and families about prostate cancer. Locally, The Pennsylvania Prostate Cancer Coalition will receive more than $27,000 in funds to be used for prostate cancer education and awareness for local men and families.

“We’re thankful for the opportunity to partner with ZERO for the Run/Walk series to continue to bring prostate cancer awareness to the men of Harrisburg and to the state of Pennsylvania,” said Terry Vennell of Urology of Central Pennsylvania and the Race Director for the ZERO Run/Walk in Harrisburg. “The funds donated to The Pennsylvania Prostate Cancer Coalition will be vital to supporting local men in their prostate cancer journeys as well as raising awareness and education of the disease.”
