ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer is excited to announce the debut of its first run/walk in Philadelphia to raise awareness about prostate cancer and the importance of early detection. The 2019 ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk Philadelphia becomes part of ZERO’s nationwide Run/Walk series which includes more than 40 races around the country. ZERO will hold more than 20 of those races in September, which is also Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
“ZERO is honored to debut this race during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month – a time when health experts, advocates and those affected by the disease come together for one common goal,” said Renee Haney, ZERO’s Chapter Director for the East Coast Metro Area.
“There are thousands of people in the Philadelphia area who are running in this race to raise money, increase awareness, and honor loved ones,” said ZERO CEO and President Jamie Bearse. “Everyone who takes part in this race is helping to make a positive impact on the lives of men with prostate cancer. ZERO is proud to say that 86 cents of every dollar raised goes to programs, research, and efforts to end prostate cancer.”
The Philadelphia Run/Walk takes place on September 8 at Wilson Farm Park in Wayne, PA. It features a 5K run/walk, a Kids’ Superhero Dash, and plenty of activities that the entire family can enjoy. The Run/Walk wraps up with an emotional ceremony highlighting survivors, caregivers, and top fundraisers. MidLantic Urology is the host sponsor of this year’s race.
