ZERO & Us TOO International Finalize Merger

ZERO and Us TOO Logos

The prostate cancer community has a new patient-centric powerhouse in its corner with the officially completed merger of ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer and Us TOO Support Groups. This newly unified organization creates a comprehensive support system for prostate cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. It also increases prostate cancer awareness and advances research and access to care through a united advocacy platform. The need is urgent to directly address the increase of emotional, financial, and physical challenges caused by COVID-19 to those who are already in a health crisis fighting prostate cancer.

In addition, serving as a single educational resource will help reach more patients and communities on important issues including ever-developing treatment options, early detection and active surveillance, diagnostics, survivorship, and emotional and physical well-being. Two major priorities for the combined organization are to address the growing need for patient support as a result of the pandemic and to eliminate the racial disparities in prostate cancer.

More about the merger of ZERO and Us TOO International can be found in this breaking news item.

The Link Between Prostate Cancer & Breast Cancer

The link between breast and prostate cancer

October 1 marked the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The past year has posed a challenge to just about everything, and cancer prevention is no exception. Except for skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with the risk of developing them being 1 in 8.

Did you know a family history of breast cancer is associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer, and that the relationship between breast cancer and prostate cancer may be in the genes? Research has shown that certain genetic mutations of the BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 gene may increase the risk of aggressive prostate cancer. Visit our website to learn more about what the BRCA gene means for men and their families.

Plus we have a great contest rolling as well — post your pics on social media with #growandgive, and you may be the lucky winner of a Grizzly Cooler from Hop Valley Brewing. Sign the Petition to Support Veterans’ Prostate Cancer Care

Help improve prostate cancer care for Veterans

Clinical pathways are a vital tool in the fight against prostate cancer. Clinical pathways improve the quality, treatment, and access for patients with a standardized system of care. Currently, no such national clinical pathway exists for prostate cancer within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The Veteran’s Prostate Cancer Treatment and Research Act is a critical piece of legislation in the House and Senate that will help to ensure that Veterans will have equal access to the best possible care by establishing a national clinical pathway for prostate cancer within the VHA. You are needed!

Add your signature to take to Congress in November showing the strong support of our community for improving the prostate cancer outcomes for U.S. Veterans.
