Meet Elisha, the middle sister of seven siblings, a community advocate, a proud Auntie of five, and ZERO’s Operations Assistant!
Prostate Cancer impacted her life through her grandfather, Luay Abdullah Sese-Khalid, an Air Force veteran of three wars (WWII, Vietnam, and Korea). Her loving grandfather doted on his grandchildren and never missed one of her band concerts, softball games, plays, and awards ceremonies. Elisha’s family was devastated with the passing of her grandfather in 2010 after he was diagnosed with both lung and prostate cancer the prior year.
Elisha’s love for family and desire for education were instilled in her by that grandfather. Elisha graduated in 2018 with a Bachelors in History from the University of Mary Washington (“It’s a great day to be an eagle”). Throughout college, she was passionate about grassroots organizing and community service through her church.
“ZERO has given me the opportunity to serve my community and men like my grandfather through research, education, and advocacy. As I carry my grandfather in my heart, I continue to grow as a cancer advocate, Sese-Khalid, and Christian. I’m excited to continue to honor him through my work at ZERO.” If you have any questions at all about prostate cancer and the programs we provide, please email Elisha@zerocancer.org.
