When the opportunity to work as our West Coast Chapter Coordinator arose, Allsun knew she had to take it. In some ways, she’s been connected to ZERO for years now, since her family has ties to our very own Vanessa Peterson, ZERO’s National Chapter Director, and now Allsun’s boss.
Allsun is hardworking and highly motivated, demonstrated by the fact that while finishing her degree she worked for an assisted living community of end-stage Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. Many patients felt the kindness and love from her as she worked with them in their daily programs and activities.
Allsun’s father battled cancer, and while he never had prostate cancer, she shares it was always something he was worried about. She wants to make sure that all men and their families have the support and the community they need while navigating prostate cancer. As momentum for the cause has grown, in late 2019 Allsun’s title changed to Coordinator of the National Chapter Program, assisting Vanessa and the five other Chapter Directors.
When she’s not juggling work and parenting, she likes to get the creative juices flowing by crafting and painting – watercolors are her current favorite. How does she do it all? She will admit it may have something to do with her major caffeine addiction.
