Manager, Social Media

ZERO’s Manager, Social Media is a critical part of the Marketing & Communications team, as they will play a vital role in supporting fundraiser and donor-centric acquisition, messaging, and educational campaigns. In addition to content creation, the Manager, Social Media will stay abreast of digital technologies and social media trends, and make recommendations for change and growth. This role also involves creating communications plans that serve as the framework to manage campaigns internally across the team and other departments.

  • Develop, implement, publish, and share engaging content on a daily basis.
  • Manage community engagement across all channels – engaging with followers and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Implement and optimize social media strategy to align with ZERO’s goals.
  • Produce communications plans that involve deliverables from the entire MarComm team, including emails, graphics, video, newsletters, and web content.
  • Manage one to two full time director reports, social media contractors, freelancers, and interns.
  • Identify and engage with content creators, influencers, and brand ambassadors.
  • Produce metrics reports for all platforms and campaign-specific needs. Ability to analyze data and implement adjustments to enhance performance and engagement.
  • In collaboration with Senior Director of Digital Media, audit current platforms, strategize for new platforms, and build a strategic social media plan for 2022 and beyond.
  • Produce communications plans that involve deliverables from the entire MarComm team, including emails, graphics, video, newsletters, and web content.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure brand consistency, messaging, and content themes.
  • Stay up to date with current technologies and trends on social media, including audience preferences and new platforms.
  • Produce, copy-edit, and manage blog calendar.
  • Build graphics and videos to complement social media content.

Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge and extensive experience using Sprout Social, Animoto, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Workspace, and Slack.
  • Demonstrated experience with video editing is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five years managing social media in a professional work environment.
  • Humility, creativity, and leadership skills with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to work cohesively and collaboratively across teams.
  • A strong track record of implementing and managing multiple social media campaigns concurrently and meeting deadlines.
  • Superior writing, editing, and oral communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with AP Style writing.
  • Ability to travel as a ZERO ambassador up to 10% (approximately once per quarter).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years managing social media in the not-for-profit space.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant use of a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as computer printer, calculator, and copier.
  • Prolonged periods of a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
  • The ability to recognize details at close range for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

This position can be based remotely. While travel is currently limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this position will eventually require nationwide travel approximately 10% of the time (approximately once per quarter).
