Director, Fundraising & Donor Campaigns

ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer is seeking an inspirational and experienced leader who is highly motivated, organized, creative, and passionate about fundraising and donor communications. The Director, Fundraising & Donor Campaigns is a newly created position responsible for leading communications driving peer-to-peer fundraising and donor campaigns to help raise millions of dollars to support patients and families. This role is a critical part of a cohesive, cross-department Marketing and Communications Team working collaboratively with Development and Events team members to implement ZERO’s fundraising and donor growth strategy. Qualified candidates will be rooted in Development and data-driven strategies with a Marketing mind to drive growth and evolve fundraiser and donor-centric acquisition, messaging, and annual campaigns. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as donor acquisition leader, developing and implementing a comprehensive donor-centric communications strategy working cohesively with the Development Team to acquire new donors while increasing retention rates and average gift amounts
  • Oversee and create innovative and impactful peer-to-peer recruitment, fundraising, and coaching campaigns in collaboration with the Events and Development Teams to grow ZERO’s national Run/Walk series, annual Summit, Grow & Give, DIY events, Tee-Offs, and other programs
  • Lead and develop annual campaign calendar, planning, timelines, goals, and project management
  • Drive segmentation strategy in collaboration with Development and Events Teams and operationalize key segments with detailed personas and messaging
  • Direct and implement e-marketing strategies to increase acquisition and retention through email A/B testing, segmentation, calls to action, and other new tactics
  • Lead direct mail campaign efforts including segmentation, project management and deliverables, and metrics tracking
  • Create and deploy donor surveys and other tactics to gain deeper insights into donor personas, preferences, and giving motivations
  • Develop key campaign performance metrics and report results monthly
  • Innovate and launch new fundraising campaigns to acquire new audiences
  • Assist in managing and optimizing our database to ensure an organized, data-driven pipeline
  • Grow and enhance monthly donor programs to acquire new donors and retain existing donors with compelling drip campaigns showcasing impact
  • Oversee annual e-marketing campaign development, calendar, and efficacy
  • Oversee development of ZERO’s annual report and continuously refresh other donor materials including solicitation, stewardship, and impact pieces
  • Lead efforts to enhance online giving information and donor experience on ZERO’s website
  • Elevate the donor voice internally and externally through storytelling and build a robust database of impact stories and testimonials
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Team to ensure cohesive branding and optimize digital advertising across campaigns
  • Champion ZERO’s established brand guidelines and organizational key messages to ensure continuity and adherence across all communications
  • Mentor and lead Donor Communications Manager, e-marketing resource, and other marketing staff as needed

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing
  • Minimum five years working in a nonprofit managing campaigns with a demonstrated success record of donor and peer-to-peer fundraiser acquisition
  • Must have a donor-centric approach and fundraising lens that is forward-thinking and reflects current industry standard best practices
  • Humility, creativity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to work cohesively and collaboratively across teams
  • A strong track record of implementing and managing multiple national campaigns concurrently and meeting deadlines
  • Superior writing, editing, and oral communications skills
  • Expertise and a data-driven approach to leading both direct mail and e-marketing strategies 
  • Experience using Blackbaud products including Raiser’s Edge and Luminate Online 
  • Must be familiar with AP Style 
  • Ability to travel as a ZERO ambassador

This position can be based anywhere in the continental U.S. This position will require travel approximately once per quarter.
