My Daddy-o, Gene, earned the nickname “El Jefe” (The Boss) from his coworkers at the Carlisle Area School District after dedicating 35 years of his life teaching seventh-grade biology. Shortly after retiring, he became The Boss of Babysitting. While my husband and I returned to work, he undertook the Monday through Friday care of his youngest grandchild, my daughter Evelyn, when she was only a month old. Now, as a Stage Four Prostate Cancer patient, he’s filling the role of The Boss at his karaoke sessions while he’s at the CTCA. No matter what life throws at him, he takes charge like only a Boss could. And that is why I choose to #doitfordad.
