This weekend, the 2021 ZERO Virtual Summit officially kicks off! We have an itinerary jam-packed with some of the most inspiring voices in the prostate cancer community, from medical professionals to baseball legends. As our premier on Sunday, February 28th quickly approaches, we wanted to highlight three of our most highly-anticipated speakers: Cal Ripken, Jr., Dr. Mark Moyad, and Dr. Stacy Loeb.
Cal Ripken Jr.
We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Cal Ripken, Jr. as our 2021 ZERO Summit mission speaker! Cal is a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and played his entire 21-year Major League career with his hometown Baltimore Orioles. He was a 19-time American League All-Star, a two-time American League Most Valuable Player and two-time All-Star Game MVP. He is one of only ten players in history with more than 3,000 hits and 400 home runs.
Since his retirement from the sport, Ripken has stepped up to the plate in an entirely new way. He is a prostate cancer survivor, and he credits his recovery largely due to his proactive testing early on and advocates for other men to do the same. Additionally, he has built a youth baseball business and a national non-profit organization that has impacted over 1 million children nationwide. Ripken is a best-selling author, an accomplished corporate speaker and a popular corporate spokesperson. Ripken is also a Public Diplomacy Envoy for the U.S. State Department and since 2007 he has made goodwill trips to China, Japan, Nicaragua and the Czech Republic.
Tune in on Monday, March 1st at 5pm to hear Cal take the plate and speak LIVE about his personal prostate cancer journey. He’s delve into detail about his diagnosis nearly one year ago, his experience with the Exodome Prostate Test, as well as advice for men fighting the disease. He will be joined by his urologist, Dr. Ronald F. Tutrone, Jr. of Chesapeake Urology. It’s sure to be nothing short of a home run!
Dr. Mark Moyad returns for the second year in a row as the ZERO Summit keynote speaker. Dr. Moyad is one of the most prolific writers about lifestyle changes and dietary supplements, and their ability to improve physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. He is the primary author of over 150 published medical journal articles on the subject of lifestyle changes and supplements, and has given lectures around the world to the public and health care professionals in many medical specialties. He is the bestselling author of “The Supplement Handbook,” which seeks to prove, or debunk, supplemental treatment options for over 100 common medical conditions.
Over the years, Dr. Moyad has made breakthrough discoveries on nutrition and prostate cancer, particularly how it relates to heart health. According to Dr. Moyad, “heart healthy equals prostate healthy,” and he has long advocated for men to combat prostate cancer with healthy diets and active lifestyles.
We can always count on Dr. Moyad to bring both expertise and a sense of humor to his discussions about prostate cancer. Tune in on Sunday, February 28th at 5pm EST as he kicks off the ZERO Summit with his keynote speech! He’ll be discussing his latest research on prostate cancer and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Stacy Loeb is a Professor of Urology and Population Health at New York University (NYU) and the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Medical Center, specializing in prostate cancer. She is on the Editorial Board for various medical journals, such as the British Journal of Urology International, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. She also authored the chapter on Early Detection, Diagnosis, and Staging of Prostate Cancer for Campbell-Walsh Urology, the primary textbook in the field.
Dr. Loeb hosts the Men’s Health Show on Sirius XM 110 US/Canadian satellite radio on Wednesdays from 6-8pm EST. She frequently delves into topics that are pressing for today’s modern world, such as social media in medicine, fake news, and where to source information reliably.
With all of the information about prostate cancer on the internet today, Dr. Loeb is here to make sure you don’t get led astray by fake news.
