112th Congress Opened This Week

Caption goes here

More than 100 new members will be sworn into office in the House and Senate today as the 112th Congress opens. The first order of business will be adopting the new Rules of the House and likely filibuster reform in the Senate. In the coming weeks, besides the more news worthy topics such as repealing health care reform and reducing the federal deficit, the new Congress will have to deal with completing the discretionary spending package funding the government for the current fiscal year and beginning the funding process for fiscal year 2012 which begins October 1. That process will officially start in early February when the Administration transmits the President's budget proposal to Congress.

In addition to protecting funding for prostate cancer research in the current budget, we will focus our efforts to increase funding in FY2012.

Please write your Congressional delegation today to welcome them to the 112th Congress and ask for their support for increased research funding.
