National Man Day - June 15, 2011
There comes a time in every man's life where he must stand up for what he believes in... That time is June 15th!
On June 15th, men across the nation will unite in one cause and one voice saying, "I am man!" On that day, men across the nation will blow things up, they'll shoot big guns, they'll punch each other for no reason, they'll pump some iron, or they'll watch every Rambo movie from beginning to end... Straight through. And when asked why men do these things, they'll say "Because I'm a MAN!"
It's time to take back the crown of masculinity. It's time for men to be men. What should you do on this day? Be the man you were meant to be. Be a good father, drop kick your best friend when he least expects it, dump a whole tank of gasoline on a pile of sticks and ignite it by shooting another can of gas! Be responsible for your actions, go out there invite every man you know, play ball with your kid, eat an 18 oz steak, get your wife some flowers, punch another guy in the jugular and just be a MAN!
Be a Man to End Prostate Cancer
Being a man also means being healthy and knowing your risks about prostate cancer. So while you are chopping wood, hosting a poker night or going four-wheeling, register your activity to raise funds for prostate cancer early detection programs and research for a cure.
One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetimes! Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of male cancer death, killing a man every 18 minutes. Yet, there is hope: 99 percent survive when it's caught early.
Proceeds raised by National Man Day activities will support ZERO — The Project to End Prostate Cancer and its mission to end prostate cancer through awareness, outreach, advocacy and research. ZERO operates the Drive Against Prostate Cancer—the only national mobile testing program for the disease. Since the Drive began in 2002, ZERO has tested more than 110,000 men and saved an estimated 11,000 lives through early detection. ZERO has also worked to infuse more than $2 billion of new federal funding for prostate cancer research to find a cure.
